Roles and Responsibilities

There are Standard Roles used across all Domains that manage the TMS at an enterprise level (as well as a single System Level Manager).

There are additional roles that do not appear in every Domain. They are being used in selected Domains for pilot testing and will be added to your Domain as appropriate when the functionality they make available has been approved for deployment VA wide.

Standard Roles

Assignment Manager (AM)

Primarily responsible for making learning assignments to Users.

Assignment Profile Manager (APM)

Primarily responsible for creating/managing Assignment Profiles
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Domain Manager (DM)

Responsible for managing all Admin User's, reference tables and merging users in the Domain Administrators who have the Domain Manager role MUST also have the Learning Manager role. There should be a primary and back-up Domain Manager identified for each domain.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Help Desk Manager (HD)

Primarily responsible for providing initial support for TMS Users, including resetting passwords.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Human Resources Manager (HR)

Views sensitive information about TMS Users that is not available to any other TMS Admin Role.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Item Manager (IM)

Primarily responsible for creating new items.

Learning Manager (LM)

Primarily responsible for managing and tracking User training needs. They have access to create Items and Scheduled Offerings.

Question Editor Manager (QEM)

Creates Objectives, Questions, and Exam Objects.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Registration Manager (RM)

Primarily responsible for registering Users in Scheduled Offerings and recording attendance.

Report Manager (RPT)

Given to those whose only administrative function in the TMS is the running of Reports.

Scheduling Manager (SM)

Primarily responsible for creating and managing Scheduled Offerings.

Additional Roles

Accreditation Manager (ACM)

Adds Accreditations, based on nationally entered Accreditation Types, to their Domain. This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.

Accreditation Item Manager (ACIM)

Adds Accreditations to Items within their Domain.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role (usually the Item Manager Role))

Competency Manager (CM)

Adds Competencies within their Domain.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Competency Profile Manager (CPM)

Adds Competency Profiles within their Domain.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Communities Manager (CM)

Adds/manages Online Communities within the TMS.
(This is an add-on Role and must be added in conjunction with another Admin Role.)

Performance Manager (PM)

The Performance Manager will have access to the new Performance functionality.
